+ Chair's report 2016 - 2017
Tauranga City Council received today the annual reports for its four Council Controlled Organisations (CCOs), which includes Tauranga Art Gallery Trust. The annual reports outline the CCO’s performance against set targets for the 2016/17 financial year. Chair of both the CCO working group and Audit, Finance, Risk & Monitoring Committee, Councillor Gail McIntosh, welcomes the annual reports showcasing the results of the working-relationship between Council and its CCOs.

Paradox Inside as part of Paradox: Tauranga Street Art Festival organised by Tauranga City Council in collaboration with Oi YOU! and Tauranga Art Gallery, exceeded the targets with a total visitation of 49,185 in three months. In April 2017, the Tauranga Art Gallery was named one of the top seven art galleries in New Zealand by Culture Trip, an international travel and lifestyle website that attracts more than five million readers per month.

The gallery’s art education programmes attracted the highest number of young people to have ever taken part with 10,949 participants. Over the course of the financial year, the gallery delivered 16 exhibitions that covered a broad range of genres and subjects: Buddhist medicine mandala, wildflower garden project, street art, Miles Art Awards, historical painting, Maori ceramics etc.
