Our specialist Gallery Educators deliver a range of Education Programmes for Primary and Secondary School students.

Our ArtBus service transports students to and from the gallery and is available for use by all schools in Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty Region free of charge (conditions may apply).

What we offer

Tauranga Art Gallery Education Programmes are based on current exhibitions, and cater for the learning needs of students at all levels. Education Programmes are created to support the Key Competencies of the New Zealand curriculum, and are developed and led by our specialist Gallery Educators.

0 - 8 Years: 

When possible Year 0 - 8 classes can buddy with another class to take part in a Gallery/Library exchange programme with Tauranga City Library from Tuesday - Friday.

9 - 13 Years: 

Tauranga Art Gallery Education Programmes are adapted to the gallery’s diverse and regularly changing schedule of exhibitions and can be tailored to suit individual class and NCEA subject requirements. Programmes are developed and led by our specialist Gallery Educators.

ArtBus

Visiting the gallery costs $5 per learner for an exhibition learning experience + practical art activity (1.5 hour session), and $3 for an exhibition learning experience only (up to 45 minutes).

The ArtBus is free of charge and available for use by all schools in Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty Region. Some restrictions may apply.
