Our specialist Gallery Educators deliver a range of Education Programmes for Primary and Secondary School students. Our ArtBus service transports students to and from the Gallery and is available for use by all schools in Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty Region free of charge (conditions may apply).
Tauranga Art Gallery Education Programmes are based on current exhibitions, and cater for the learning needs of students at all levels. Education Programmes are created to support the Key Competencies of the NZ curriculum, and are developed and led by our specialist Gallery Educators. Our 2018 programmes are supported by the Ministry of Education’s Learning Experiences Outside The Classroom initiative (LEOTC).
When possible Year 0 - 8 classes can buddy with another class to take part in a Gallery/Library exchange programme with Tauranga City Library.
Sign up to our Schools Newsletter to receive details about current and upcoming programmes for Year 0 - 8 groups.
Tauranga Art Gallery Education Programmes are adapted to the Gallery’s diverse, and regularly changing schedule of exhibitions, and can be tailored to suit individual class and NCEA subject requirements. Programmes are developed and led by our specialist Gallery Educators.
Visiting the Gallery in 2018 costs $3, as of January 2019 the cost will increase to $5 per student for an exhibition learning experience + practical art activity (1.5 hour session), and $3 for an exhibition learning experience only (up to 45 minutes).
