Top Art is an annual touring exhibition featuring a selection of the NCEA Level 3 portfolios that achieved Excellence in Visual Art in the previous year. Five streams are covered: design, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
It provides an opportunity for secondary students and teachers to gain an understanding of what is required to achieve Excellence at Level 3 and allows the public to see the high quality art being created in schools.
Having first toured NZ in 2010 featuring students from 2009, the annual exhibition has become increasingly popular with schools, students and the art galleries across the country that host it.
With the increasing move to digital assessment, this year’s exhibition also features digital portfolios displayed (where possible) on TV screens.
The Top Art exhibition can be seen in the Learning Programmes Studio at Tauranga Art Gallery.
