Slit Scan: Seung Yul Oh
2 July - 2 October 2016

Seung Yul Oh is one of New Zealand’s most exciting artists. Dividing his time between Seoul and Auckland, Oh has become known for his big, bold installations.

Slit Scan (detail), Seung Yul Oh, at Tauranga Art Gallery.

For Tauranga Art Gallery Oh has envisioned a massive sculptural intervention that envelopes the visitor as they enter the gallery.

This brightly coloured installation made up of enormous fabric sails changes the way we see and experience the space encouraging new associations and perspectives.

The artist often plays with architectural spaces and the visitor experience, using materials and imagery that evoke memories from childhood.

This exhibition has been generously supported by the Chartwell Trust.
Oh is represented by Starkwhite, Auckland.
