Kelcy Taratoa: Crisis and Isolation

Mercy Killing

Navigating between the real and the unreal is a daily exercise for the modern man or woman, says contemporary artist, Kelcy Taratoa.

In this one-off show of vibrant large scale works drawn from a private collection, Taratoa seeks to explore our alternate realities - the physical tangible nature of life against a virtual interactive reality.

The advance of technology is unrelenting, the artist says.

Levin-born Kelcy Taratoa studied at UCOL and Massey University. Since 2003 he has exhibited extensively throughout New Zealand's public art institutions. This year, as well as exhibiting at Tauranga Art Gallery, Taratoa will exhibit new work in Tel Aviv, Israel and Tel Aviv Museum of Art.

Taratoa, of Ngai Te Rangi and Ngati Raukawa descent, lives in Palmerston North.
