James like all of his fellow trustees believes in excellent governance. James believes in the fundamental power art has to contribute to a cities wellbeing. He hopes he will also contribute his lifelong experience and knowledge of the fine art sector to the trusts governance sensibilities.
Currently James is the chair of the Contemporary Art Foundation in Auckland, a not for profit cultural CCO.
He holds a BFA from the Elam school of fine arts Auckland University and has worked in a variety of roles within the cultural sector including film, music, dance and fine art.
James is a former member of the sonic art group From Scratch.
Recently moved to the Bay of Plenty with his wife from Auckland where he was the director of Te Tuhi, a regional public art gallery and community facility.
