Matariki Family Drop-In Session

Join us for a TAG Art Studio for families drop-in session on Saturday, 29 June between 10am and 12.00 noon. Bring the family along to create a small artwork in uku (clay) in celebration of Matariki. Cost $2 per participant. No bookings required. 

Matariki Weaving Workshop

7 July 2019

Parewhati Taikato will teach workshop participants the art of weaving in the Tauranga Art Gallery education studio. The first sessions is for children aged 7-12 years from 10am to 12pm. The second session is for adults from 1 to 3pm. Entry is $20 per person

July School Holiday Programme

8 July 2019

These school holidays there will be two programmes running, both inspired by Matariki. Programme/Week 1: Children will explore different techniques to create their own printed artwork. Programme/Week 2: Children will experiment with the art of whakairo (carving) using soap, paua and shells Inspired by Gardiner’s pounamu (greenstone) work. Book now as these classes sell out quick! Entry is $20 per child per session.

Matariki TAG Art Studio

1 August 2019

Over three workshops children will experiment with a variety of materials exploring landscapes, colour and texture. This exploration will form the basis of a landscape artwork with a sculptural element which has been inspired by Matariki. Thursdays 1, 8, 15 August, 3:30pm – 5pm. Entry: $60 for 3 sessions

Uku (clay) Workshop

10 August 2019

On Saturday 10 August, artist Linda Munn will teach participants pinch pot and coiling techniques to create small sculptures using uku (clay). There are two workshop times to choose from: 10am – 12pm (ages 15+) OR 1:30pm – 3:30pm (ages 15+). Entry is $35 per participant (includes materials).
