Comments on Pacific Curls tour with AOTNZ February/March 2009

Friday evening saw the start of the cabaret 'Nights on The Town 'series.Pacific Curls - what can I say but WOW WOW WOW.
Here are three incredibly gifted women who together create the most beautiful, sensitive, emotive, inspiring and unique music. Their blend of Scottish, Pacific, South American and African influences make this group individual.
The sounds from traditional Maori instruments as well as kalimba, ukuleles, fiddle, guitar and vocals are used subtly with magnificent sensitivity to shape veils of delicate sublimity within their original compositions.
Exotic rhythms, Celtic fiddle, Te Reo, brilliant compositions, fabulous vocals, exceptional musicianship and personality plus, make Pacific Curls world class - think I've run out of adjectives!

Pacific Curls gig was a resounding success. Capacity audience was captivated by the girls’ innovation and dexterity. Such an unusual combination of talents is very difficult to classify but adds up to great entertainment. Credit too to Arts On Tour for making such a wide variety of artistes accessible to provincial New Zealand. Opotiki has certainly benefited greatly from your endeavours with sell-out concerts so far this year. We are now in the process of seeking a larger venue in order to cater for a growing audience. Your initiative is proving a winning formula for us so keep up the good work. Opotiki CAC
