Collecting art and the New Zealand art market.



Ben Plumbly is Director of Art at ART+OBJECT. He has a first-class honours degree, majoring in art history. Prior to founding A+O he was manager and auctioneer of the fine art department at New Zealand’s largest auction house.

Ben works closely with a small number of select clients to help them build, manage, shape and advance their collections, most especially in the fields of Modern and Contemporary art and Photographs.

Ben is the New Zealand contributor for the Australian publication Australian Art Market Report, covering various aspects of collecting and the New Zealand art market. As a collector his focus is Contemporary New Zealand and International Photo-media. His collection features over fifty works by young and mid career photographers including Gavin Hipkins, Yvonne Todd, Laurence Aberhart and Michael Parekowhai.
