Art conservator Ingrid Ford, from the Auckland Art Gallery, discusses the role of an art conservator and talks about what you can do to preserve your precious art works in a variety of media.

Ingrid is originally from Australia, where she completed a degree in Fine Arts and later a degree in Applied Science - Conservation of Cultural Materials, specialising in paintings.
Following her graduation she took up a year internship at the Ian Potter Conservation Centre at Melbourne University and worked briefly at the National Gallery of Victoria before taking up her current position at the Auckland Art Gallery. She has been there for nine years.
