FULL PROGRAMME

PACIFIC CURLS 7.30pm, Saturday 6 March

After a successful tour of Canada, New Caledonia, South Korea and Europe, Pacific Curls are touring the country with their unprecedented combination of Scottish fiddle, Taonga Puoro, ukuleles, cajon, guitar, kalimba, percussion and awesome vocals.

RICHARD ADAMS & NIGEL GAVIN 7.30pm, Friday 30 April

Adams (violin) and Gavin (guitar) have crafted their art in rehearsal rooms and recording studios, and are now presenting their magic in concert halls and festivals at home, Australia, the US and Europe.

PENNY ASHTON HOT PINK BITS 7.30pm, Saturday 22 May

Hot Pink Bits is a risqué but tasteful laugh a minute musical revue, from NZ’s own globe trotting comedienne, Penny Ashton (Breakfast TV, Radio NZ National). Resplendent in a hot pink corset, Ashton will sing, dance and pontificate on pornography, prostitutes and Lockwood Smith in a burlesque romp though the knickers of the global sex trade.

HOT CLUB SANDWICH 7.30pm, Sunday 1 August

A Wellington based trio, featuring Andrew London (guitar), Terry Crayford (bass) and saxophonist James Tait Jameson. Hot Club Sandwich presents a repertoire of original songs about life in NZ from the point of view of the average middle class, middle aged, backyard bloke.

ANTIQUES ROGUES SHOW 7.30pm, Friday 13 August

Patrons are invited into the genteel world of stately manors, country fetes and local women’s institutes as they bring along their valuable family antiques and treasured heirlooms. Patrick Duffy and his equally antiquated side-kick will unfold the mystery and intrigue of the selected piece in a way that has no particular relevance to real history, artistic appreciation or any worthwhile knowledge whatsoever.

FIONA PEARS 7.30pm, Friday 22 October

New Zealand violinist and composer Fiona Pears is an electrifying and animated performer who thrills audiences wherever she plays. Her performance will be a fiery melting pot of flavours: Latin, Jazz, and Classical as well as some sizzling traditional Gypsy favourites.

WHIRIMAKO BLACK 7.30pm, Friday 26 November

New Zealand’s most acclaimed and prolific Maori language singer with six solo albums to her credit and further guest appearances on three other albums. ‘Whirimako Black Sings’, released in 2007, won the Best Jazz album at the New Zealand Music Awards, 2008.
